The Instant Eye Palette || Charlotte Tilbury

This was one of the biggest impulse purchases I have probably made this year. I first came across this Instant Eye palette when Charlotte Tilbury had their PR Event in Toronto and many influencers that I follow were posting all about it on their Instagram stories. I’ve heard many positive things about the Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadows but could never justify the price of the quads, so, when they announced the pre-sale for this palette, I immediately purchased it without thinking.

For the price of $95 CAD, I was able to get a total of 12 eyeshadow shades, while her quads retail for $66 CAD. To me, this was a no-brainer of a better deal. But this lead to the worry that the shadow quality wouldn’t live up to the quality of the quad shadows. Before I move on to talking about my ever-growing love for Charlotte Tilbury, I need to touch upon their shipping and customer service.

Charlotte Tilbury is literally #1 in my heart when it comes to shipping and customer service. When I ordered her gold brick highlighter, my package came with only the samples in it. I reached out to their customer service and within a day or 2, a second package was shipped to me with the highlighter and a travel size Magic Face Cream as an apology. This eye palette was no different, my order shipped out later in the day that I ordered it and had already arrived at my house the next day! This is a package that shipped out of California and arrived in Toronto, THE. NEXT. DAY. THAT’S AMAZING!

I have purchased a few products from her here and there, but have always wanted to try out more products. I’ve mentioned her products previously in my ‘February Favourites’ post (find it here) and have posted a review on her ‘Instant Look in a Palette’ (you can read that here). Since the purchase of the palette, I have purchased her lip duo for Pillowtalk and its respective lip liner as well as her gold brick highlighter.

Okay, moving on to the main topic, the Instant Eye palette. It comes in the signature Charlotte Tilbury packaging, a sleek rose-gold package with the CT symbol at the opening spot of the palette. Along with, the gilded rays coming out of the symbol and ‘Charlotte Tilbury’ debossed into the package.

Instant Eye Palette shades, 3 shades per eye look (L-R): Day Eye, Desk Eye, Date Eye, Disco Eye

The palette comes with a mirror the length of the whole palette and all 12 shades are grouped in 3’s and separated into 4 different groups: the ‘Day Eye’, the ‘Desk Eye’, the ‘Date Eye’, and the ‘Disco Eye’. Each group consists of shades that are suggestions for shades you can use for a certain time of day. I love that there are different groups, they definitely come in handy when I don’t want to think about how I’m pairing shades up, since it’s already done for me. They also allow me to experiment and mix the groups together to create a whole new different look altogether.

It comes in a nice mix of matte and shimmer shades allowing you the ability to create a smoky eye with just matte shades or have a lot of fun with a whole eye look from just shimmer shades.

Included is a plastic cover sheet that indicates if the shade is to be used as a ‘prime,’ ‘enhance’, or ‘smoke’ shade. This is a great guideline for beginners (like me), to have some knowledge of what kind of shadow it is and how it can be used.

Swatches of the Instant Eye Palette

I love how all the shades seem to be part of a different colour scheme, while the first set of shades from the ‘Day Eye’ look more so in the taupe range, the second set, the ‘Desk Eye’ look is more orange/brown toned. In the third set, the ‘Date Eye’ look goes more into the rose golds. Lastly, the fourth set, the ‘Disco Eye’ look dips into the darker greys and silver tones.

All the shades swatched effortlessly and I had no issue with the pigmentation. The shadows are buttery feeling and I love how they’re a good mix between matte and shimmer shades. The palette is so beautiful and I really can’t take my eyes off of it. I know I’ll definitely be reaching for this palette quite often!

What are your thoughts? Did you pick up this palette?
