It’s a little funny how one of my favourite brands is Nars yet, I’ve never written a blogpost solely focused on their products. They’ve always been mentioned in my favourites posts but never had their own post. So, here I am, with a post solely dedicated to a Nars product, the new Skin Deep Eyeshadow palette.

I’d be lying if I said this was the palette to end all palettes for me because next thing you know, I’ll probably have a new eyeshadow palette in my Sephora loves list within the next month, but one could dream. Although, if there was a palette with all the shades that I could probably live with for the rest of my life, I’d most likely pick this one up out of my collection and say this was it.

The palette itself comes in 12 neutral shades, perfect for looks from everyday to a smokey night out. It comes in a mix between matte, shimmer and metallic finishes and promotes the palette to be a multiuse product created for all skintones. The palette is a limited edition product retailing for $74 CAD/$59 CAD (4 x 0.12 oz/3.5 g and 8 x 0.04 oz/1.4 g) and is available at Sephora, Nordstrom, and NARS.
* Something to note: the Sephora website promotes this product as consisting of 12 shades with the net weight of 0.12 oz/3.5 g each. While, this is the case for the 4 top row shades, the bottom 8 shades are only 0.04 oz/1.4 g each.
Moving onto the palette itself, the shades are housed in a matte black hard plastic casing with the Nars logo written in a copper shade. The matte black casing is a little different from Nars’ usual matte black packaging that provides a sort of grip-like texture, this one is smoother feeling. The mirror inside the palette is the full size of the palette itself, which makes it super easy to be the go-to mirror for a full face application.

The shades are as follows:
- 4 x 0.12 oz/3.5 g
- Taunt is a matte cream
- Sophia is a matte rich cool brown
- Whipped is a matte warm brown
- Undressed is a matte taupe brown
- 8 x 0.04 oz/1.4 g
- Bali is a matte deep neutral taupe
- Icon is a shimmery rosy gold
- Basic Instinct is a shimmery icy rose
- Coconut Grove is a matte deep brown
- Centerfold is a shimmering grey beige
- Calendar Girl is a shimmering golden brown
- Faster Pussycat is a metallic copper
- Unbuttoned is a shimmering deep brown
For the most part, I found the shades super pigmented and easy to use and blend. I could see myself gravitating towards this palette for most of the simple looks I tend to go for. Even with a night out, I can smoke up the look with some of the darker shades. However, this feels like a very standard neutral eyeshadow palette. I think it’d be nice if they came out with 2 separate palettes, one with lighter neutral shades and one with darker neutral shades like their previous limited edition blush palettes. The palette itself is more on the warmer spectrum of shades, so even a cooler palette to compliment this one would’ve been a nice touch as well.

All in all, I’m happy to have picked up this palette. I wouldn’t say it’s a complete must-have as many similar shades can be found in other palettes, but for me, I can definitely see myself reaching for it on multiple occasions.
Have you picked up this palette? What are your thoughts on the shade selection?

very nice review, I really love the shades, I am looking for a new neutral palette to be honest, I wish Nars was cruelty-free though

Thank you! I completely agree, I wish they went back to their cruelty free ways from a few years back. Hopefully they look into it again in the future 🙂

Great post! I’ve really enjoyed reading it, I’ve recently just started shopping and buying products from Nars, so far I’ve only tried their foundation and concealer, but I’ll definitely give the palette a try as well!
Feel free to checkout my blog as well, I post about beauty and skincare too! gravitybeauty.blog/

Beautiful photos! I’ve been interested in Nars for a while, this looks like a good staple palette to use from them.
